A police car is a ground vehicle used by the police force for transportation while patrolling, for responding to incidents and for enabling them to respond to chases. In an emergency, officers are transported using them to reach the scene quickly. Suspects can also be transported in the back seats, and they can be temporarily detained with them. It is a place where the police radio or laptop can be used. Also, it can be used as a patrol vehicle.
In the U.S., police cars are generally bulletproof. Most police cars built after 2015 are bullet-proof, but older models aren’t. The first armor-piercing doors and windows were installed in police cars in March 2016, making them the first in history to be able to protect against gunfire. These bulletproof materials have been incorporated into the vehicles of many large police departments to ensure the safety and protection of their officers.
Bulletproof doors are available on some police cars. The police doors are designed to withstand powerful ammunition. In the case of an AK-47 or any other high-powered rifle equipped with a 30-caliber bullet, it is designed to prevent penetration. Almost the entire door is covered by the ballistic panels, which consist of two layers. They are strong enough to withstand bombardment from bullets twice in the same area.
Bulletproof windows are available on some police cars. It is possible to outfit patrol cars with bullet-proof windows. Back portions of both passenger and driver side windows are protected by these inserts. The inserts prevent rolling down the windows. It covers all the front sides of the vehicle, even though it does not reach the windshield. There is bulletproof glass and a steel mesh cage in the backseat of a police car providing protection for the police officers in the front seats.
